The story is: My friend's car has some scratches. some are pretty deep, I guess they already cut tru the base layer. while some are very slight and mild scratches (like a light scratch made by the fingernail, those only can be seen under high lumen flash light, not felt by hand).
So he came to me 2 days ago, said he didn't mind about the scratches, just wanted to wash and wax. so I washed and waxed his car. then yesterday he came with a changed mind, said he also wanted to see if we can remove some scratches. so we went to walmart to grab a bottle of Scratch x 2.0.
Then we started from the finest scratches first. I used the UQD to clean the surface thoroughly, then use a microfiber foam applicator, and scratch x 2.0 to wipe the area with circular motion, hundreds of times. they wipe out with microfiber towel immediately before dry(absolutely before dry).
Unfortunately, we didn't notice any improvement after we applied the scratch x. even the finest and mildest scratches (those can only be noticed with extremely careful eyes) were still there. we tried to reapply couple times, with different motion (circular, or linar or whatever), with different pressure. the results were always the same.
we didnt even bother to try on the moderate or tough scratches yesterday.
Do you think I did any thing wrong? I first thought it could because of the wax. Since even polish can break down the wax layer, I guess that shouldn't be a problem to scratch X. or maybe the microfiber pad is not as good as a pure foam pad?
I ordered ultimate compound online, and will give it another shot next tuesday. hopefully it will work to some extent.
thanks a lot everyone
