  • Guys Please Help!!!!

    Hi Guys,

Long time no post. But I'm back to ask for some great advise. My car is a deep black pearl VW very hard cc.

Right the probelm is. My car went in to the local dealer for some warranty work. I explained please dont wash my car again!!!!!. To which I got funny looks. Ok sir no problem.
Came to collect my car and it has been washed . It has been hand washed but looks like it has bee dried with a dirty chamois and covered my car in very fine swirls/scratches I see a 1-2 day detail coming on.

I really dont have the time to spare. But again I dont want to short cut the process.

I would imagine I will need u/c yellow pad. Followed by u/p black pad. Followed by u/w.

Could I get away with u/p black pad. Followed by u/w? If not I think I will do a few panels each day until its back to a flawless finish like before .

    Thanks for your help Rappy.

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me a while back and I asked them not to wash it too. I read that the best thing to do is put a sticky note in your car that says "DO NOT WASH".

A sticky note is a good idea, but they don't make them big enough for me. I make my own note, on letter sized paper and tape it to the instrument cluster. As for the OPs question, try ColorX. That stuff is really underrated for getting out swirls and fine scratches. I certainly does wonders for my black car, and then follow it up with your favorite wax.

No matter how many times you tell service centers "Do not wash my car" the message seems to always get lost in their chain of command. I feel for you, Rappy.

If your VW has hard clear most likely UC will be needed (unless you're willing to hit it with M205/ polishing pad on rotary buffer). The good news is UC finishes LSP ready very often. If not completely satisfied with its finish you could also try M20 Polymer Sealant (mild cleaner wax) which gives great look on dark colors. No need to top it with another wax/ sealant for at least 4-6 weeks. If no M20 available ColorX, as mentioned above, should deliver as well.

          Thanks guys for your help.

Hi Greg, hows things? Long time no speak.

I have been busy busy with work. Not had much time for detailing. I completed the Jag XJ8 & Honda S2000. Really need to post some pics when I get chance.

Right back to the thread. I guessed it would be a labour of love as usual. 2 panels a day it is then.

Due to micro marring. My process will be:-

U/C speed 5 yellow pad. U/P speed 4 black pad U/P speed 3 black pad U/W speed 3 black pad

It's sad that in result of somebody's careless approach you have to do a 3-step treatment now and remove some clear coat.

This sounds like a great approach. If the clear really is that hard then take your time with the UC step. By the way, have you tried our DA Microfiber Correction System yet? It's available in the UK now and it loves hard paint.
