  • Dealership window cleaner

Does anyone known what dealerships use in their detailing department? The reason I ask is I took my truck
in for service last friday and I asked them if they could wash it while it was there and they had their guy
detail it like is was a new car sale. I had some hard water spots on the windows and I was at the stage of
pulling out my PC and using some 105 to remove it but when I got it back Friday afternoon the spots were
gone. Any ideas? I would love to get my hands on a very strong window cleaner that will remove water spots like they did.

    Thanks

I know I've seen a vinegar/water solution mentioned here a few times. I've had success with UC on a DA on a car with 12 years worth of build-up of water spots, so it sounds like you're on the right track with the 105.

A dealership could pick anything... you would have to call them to ask.

I have some stuff at home that dealerships tend to use, I have recently found it local at my Napa. I do not recall the name exactly but I will post it later when I get home. Similar but IMO better then invisible glass.

I second the idea of calling the dealer's service dept. to find out what they used; post the answer here, lots of us would like to know.

Well most dealerships use a independant cleaning company, so probably best to just go down and ask directly. Some use different specific brands that come from the parent co. such as Ardex or sometimes OTC products.

It's doubtful they used any sort of standard window cleaner if the water spots were that bad. Your plan of using M105 on a DA to remove them was a good one, actually, and they may have done something similar. It's been common for years that people would use M04 Heavy Cut Cleaner, even by hand, to accomplish this task. M105 and Ultimate Compound, also by hand, are also effective for this purpose.

I have used, because I read it here on this board... UD on my windows but I find it leaves smudges. Am I doing something wrong?

                  Re: Dealership window cleaner

The glass cleaner I use is the same one that was used at the last dealership I worked at. Easily the best glass cleaners( they have 2 that I use) I have ever used. Contact the dealership, I'm sure they would not have any problem selling you any of the products they use. Once you get your hands on some, get the info off of the products and use the internet as your weapon. They may have a site in which you can purchase their products.

They'll probably jack up the price( as dealerships do) but if you like it, it may be worth it. Just buy one and go from there.
Hope it works out. Keep us posted.

I just went out and tested this Sprayway Cleaner... it's everything you want in a window clean...

Spray on, wipe off... NO STREAKS... took the old streaks out.

Thanks for letting me know about this.

btw, it's just under $5.00 out here.
