  • Scratches under the door handles

I have a black 08 Toyota Tacoma i have babied from day one. But i am having a major problem removing the scratches behind the Door handles. Any Advice on how to buff those out in such a hard to get to spot would be greatly appreciated!!!

I would suggest just using a foam applicator and a good polish. Ive found that just doing that removes the dirt in the scratches which makes it alot less noticeable. Unless you take the door handles off... (which is pretty easy) and then using a DA polisher.

M105 and a foam hand applicator works wonders. Work it in well you will be pleased with the results.

I may have to resort to taking the door handles off there just isn't much room to polish the scratches out by hand.

This is a very common issue that most people manage to address quite easily by hand using a foam wax applicator pad and ScratchX 2.0, Ultimate Compound, or M105. Work the product fairly aggressively for a few seconds and those fine fingernail scratches usually come out very quickly and easily.

You could try using one of those powerballs (Mother's brand I think with the red foam)or similar devices that attach to the end of a power drill. I use one of the small ones on my painted wheels with the UC and it works well.

I bet the small powerball could be the perfect size to get under the door handles. Ill try that out with the m105 and see what happens. Thanks for the Replies!

Be carefull to not stain the door handle when polishing as it looks like unpainted plastic.

I have similar handles on my black car, and while I cannot compare your scratches to mine in a photo, they look similar. As someone already advices, try ScratchX and a foam pad. It works very well. If the handles pull out to open the door, then you should have enough room. I would try it before resorting to removing the handles.

I've always been able to remove door handle scratched with ultimate compound and a microfiber cloth.

Yes, clearance behind the door pull is sometimes an issue. I just pull out on it as if opening the door, then polish with Megs 105 using a foam applicator or napped microfiber cloth. Works like a charm.
