  • best way to was a black car

First i want to say hi to all the follow car guys and gals on here. I am new to this detail section of car care. Sad to say i think i have only waxed 2 cars in my life. Know I can build them from the ground up but i was never into detailing. So here is my delima i have a 09 santa fe black and i wanted to do a full detail of the outside. Now here is where i got lost. As I was looking at all these products at the supply store I was shacking my head to what to use. Now I want to clay the car but i am lost on what wax, polish etc to use. Now i do have a buffer i use for color sanding if needed I can do it by machine but don't really want to. Now the condition on my car is good just fine swirl marks from getting it washed at the dealers. So what should i use??? I leave it in your hands.

Well... bit broad, but heres the idea for a full detail:

    1. Wash - Gold Class, etc soap, 2 buckets, good quality towels, etc.

    2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit

    3. Clean - For mild cleaning, you would want to use SwirlX or Ult. Polish. For stronger cleaning, swirl removal, etc, you would want Ult. Compound. Removing swirls from a whole car by hand can be very hard, but a panel or so a day might have to be your goal.

    4. Wax - Ult. Wax or Nxt 2.0 would be your best choices.

    5. Wax - 2 thin coats are best.

    6. Maintain - Ult. Quick Wax is great for after future washes, before the next detail.

For step #3, how many times should one go over the areas that have swirls with the Ult. Polish/Compound? And if the car is recently waxed, can you go over areas with the Ult. Polish/Compound if you spot some swirls that you missed? And then if you do that, would you go back over that area with a wax? I have a black 09 Mazda6 btw.

Well, in theory you would go over them till the swirls are removed.... But as mentioned, removing swirls by hand can be hard on some paints.

And yeah, you would want to re-wax after using a cleaner on a spot.

Though if the car is just a daily driver, I might just not worry about them till the next time I detail....

On a black car I would suggest to use Ultimate Compound to get rid of swirls and follow up with Ultimate polish to give it clarity. Now it's time to give it a coat of your favorite wax.

Yeah, I guess I'll just wait for when I do another full detail in a month or so. Thanks for the help guys!
