  • Cordless Buffer

I just got a cordless buffer for my birthday which is awesome cause i live in an apartment and do my car care in the back parking lot. I haven't used it yet but I heard the batteries don't last very long. I usually do UC and NXT Tech wax 2.0 and my question is....

since the batteries don't last long from what i've heard, i was thinking of applying the products by hand, then using the buffer to take them off as opposed to applying the products with the buffer and taking them off by hand. I figured buffing them off with the tool would provide a better shine than by hand. Or would it be best do it vice versa?

Since this is my first post, i figured i'd include a picture of my car as well...

Use it to apply your wax. That shouldn't take very long. You aren't going to have enough battery life to use it with UC

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

Use the buffer to apply the wax and then wipe off by hand with a quality microfiber towel. Why?

Using the buffer to apply the wax makes it incredibly easy to lay down a very thin and uniform coat of wax, which is what you really want to accomplish. Once that very thin coat of wax has dried to a haze it will be very easy to simply wipe off with a quality microfiber towel. You don't actually gain any more gloss by "buffing the wax off" or repeatedly rubbing the finish as you remove the wax. In fact, you run the risk of taking everything off, including that small layer you want to leave behind. You're not putting a shine to your army boots here - waxing a car is different. Let the wax dry to a haze, then wipe it off and walk away.
