  • The Effect of Polish on final gloss.

I am asking for an honest opinion. Is there a noticeable (I said noticeable not major) in the colour/gloss/depth of the cars paint after you polish and wax than if you had just applied only wax? Ignoring a cleaner polishes abrasive effect, I am only talking about polish.

    Thanks

This is totally dependent on a number of factors, but two of the biggest ones are lack of flaws (Swirls, scratches, etc) and the color. Darker cars and metallic and pearl paint show the extra step with greater color depth and with more pop in the metallic or pearl finish.

A week ago, I tried the Ultimate Polish folowed by NXT wax for the first time. This was done on a black finish that had a couple of coats of NXT only. The paint finish itself is in good condition as the vehicle is fairly new. The results were nothing short of amazing to say the least. Excellent product !

Ok one more question. If u rub your hand on certain parts of the paint there is bumps. I know claying will take this out. Does Ultimate polish clean above surfarce contaminants. Also I have a bird dropping stain, will this have to be removed by clay or UP/UC?

Unless working with something very aggressive, (like a rotary and wool pad perhaps), your applicator will tend to just jump over bonded on contaminants, and not really remove them.

The other side would be if the bonded on thing was a piece of rust/grit/etc, it would be safer to remove it with clay, than to have it break off, and now be stuck in your pad while you do your whole car.

The stain would need worked on with a cleaning product, like the UC/UP. Which you would use, how easy to remove, etc would depend on the paint.

Using a pure polish is an optional step, one that I personally love to do on my car because it is dark blue and the final results are much better with a pure polish. I would suggest trying some UP, or if your on a budget and not looking for any correction DC2 is good and very under rated.
