  • MF Washing Frequency

How long can I let my MF towels, and Ultimate wipes sit with product on them before I should wash them?

I like to wait until I have a good bit to do a load b/c like most people I always wash my MF items seperately.

I don't use them for appyling wax...So, they are mainly dirty due to wiping off residue or from applying trim protectant. Thanks!

    Good question...

I usually wash mine right away. But I wonder if you could just drop the MF into a bucket and soapy water (to keep the products from drying onto the fibres). I wouldn't want to leave it longer then a week, but I can't see it hurting it.

ps. welcome to Meguiarsonline and I like your truck (shoulda got a true blue one though...j/k)

      Thanks tru!

I didn't even know you could see the pics of my truck. I think I just posted some more...

Anyway, I seem to keep my towels just piled up, dry, with residue on them until I have enough to wash. Never really been more than a week or two, but I wanted to hear from others.

P.S. Had I been into detailing as much as I am now, I would have gotten a blue or a dark color!

I also like to wash mine right away. Letting some chemicals permeate in the MF towels is probably not good for them. Obviously, some of the chemicals in some products are probably more of a problem than others............. and it's hard to tell which ones will cause issues.

Having said all that, as much as I "like" to wash mine right away, I don't always get the chance to wash them, and they do sometimes sit for a couple of days. So far, no damage, but if I do have problems, I'll have a good idea why!

I wash them right away as well with a little woolite. Works best I have found.

i wash my mf's right away. it seems like it would be easier to clean since they're still wet/damp, and nothing has set in for long.

I wash all of my towels and mitts after every detail session. I do this to ensure that my towels come out clean everytime and that contaminants do not become embedded in the towel.

Fabrics composed of MF yarns are no different than any other fabric... if it's dirty, wash it!!

                    Hey,

I too wash my MF towels right away. I usually use Liquid Tide with an extra shot of Dawn soap. I use hot water to wash and rinse twice with cold water. I let them air dry.

                    Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback guys! I too wash mine right after use with Tide, but I just wanted to know if anyone had problems by letting them sit for a day or two. Sometimes I don't always get right around to it...
