  • Drying "Agent" for Spot-Free Goodness?

Hello all, it's been a while since I've been around.

I recently ran out of my Optimum No-Rinse and have decided to use up some of my Ultimate Wash & Wax. I then remembered why I hate conventional washes... My car has a couple of water retaining areas that will continue to leak water even with 30 minutes of drying. The worst part is that the tap water here in Phoenix is HORRIBLE. A TON of deposits. Left on my paint for more than an hour in the direct sun will leave water-spot etchings in the paint.

With that short story out of the way, is there any sort of product I can spray all over my car after the final open ended hose rinse? Something to spray over the car as it is still wet while I make my way around it drying it. I thought I heard of something before but can't find it again.

Never thought about it to be honest...BUT, how about using dishwasher drying agent in a final rinse bucket?

Ain't gotta clue of what effects it may have on the finish. But, geze, it just may work.

    Good luck...

Some people dry with a QD, UQD, UQW, etc spray... but dont think that will help your situation.

I thought about that but it wouldn't work because the rinse bucket is only used before the mitt goes in the wash bucket. After all that, the entire car is sprayed down with a hose which is the culprit. A rinse bucket would work if I poured the bucket over the car to rinse off the soap.

You don't think so? I was thinking of using UQW... but I'm not sure if it will treat hard water

Well, the qd/qw type things will help with drying, but wont help with drips after.

I know some people go over their cars with an electric leaf blower to get the hidden water out of the cracks and around lights.

Yeah, some air might be good.

If you can still find one of those Mr. Clean car washing systems, the water softening filter actually did a pretty decent job of eliminating hard water spots in the final rinse. Beyond that, I recommend using sham-wow to soak up residual water as I described in this thread:

I understand what you are trying to do here. Adams Polishes promote doing this with their "waterless wash" and "detail spray" which really improves the result when drying.

I have tried doing the same thing with Meguiar's UQD and UQW and althought they do seem to help the towel absorb better, they leave more streaking and film with the UQW. So, you have to go over the car with another soft polishing towel. Not a big deal, but it does seem to add a step.

I wish Meguiar's had some type of waterless wash. The closest thing I have found is Last Touch, but it doesn't have nearly the lubricity as Adam's waterless wash. I don't feel as safe about not scratching with the Last Touch.

Hands down Last Touch is the best drying agent I have come across. It seems to soften the water...preventing and removing fresh waterspots.

UQD will be a better option than UQW. Less obvious streaking and no added step.
Just a spritz or two per panel is sufficient.
                      It works for me!
