  • Soft Buff 2.0 Question And Hard Water?

I'm ordering the Meguiar's G110v2 today from www.autogeek.net and I need to order some pads as well. My question is, what type do I order? I'm new to using DA Polisher's and have always done everything by hand and I have some water spot on my wife's car that will not come off regardless of how many times I clay, polish and wax. So I'm looking at these three pads all of which are the Soft Buff 2.0 Foam Pads Line. Foam Cutting Pad(?), Foam Polishing Pad and the Foam Finishing Pad. Do I need to get all three or will the FPP and the FFP be fine? Also does Meguiar's make some sort of Water PH balancing accessory? Not to name drop, but Groit's makes 2 different types of Water PH balancer, but not really to crazy about the price. If any of this stuff has been addressed on other post, feel free to let me know. . . .I looked but didn't have much luck!

Meg's recommends against use of the red cutting pad with the DA, however a lot of people use it to put a bonnet on the DA for wax removal, I prefer to do that by hand.

I would get a six pack of 2.0 pads, 4 yellow for defect removal and 2 black for final polishing and waxing.

Get at least 3 of the W8207 Soft Buff 2.0 yellow polishing pads, and a couple of the W9207 black finishing pads.

As for the in-line water softening filters, that's a personal choice as to whether or not you really need them. We've got pretty hard water here in Orange County, CA and with proper wash technique we just don't have water spot issues at all. Sure, every car will have those frustrating areas that hold water until about 20 seconds after you think you're done with everything, then they release that water and let it trickle down the side of a door, bumper, etc. But even then, just a little QD spray and a microfiber towel and it's gone. Water spots are usually only hard to remove if they've dried on the surface and then sat for a long time, or out in the blazing sun.
