Here's my question: I just bought a Grigot's 6" buffer without a backing plate or pads. I'll be using it on 2 new cars with good condition paint/clearcoat, an '05 van with OK original paint/clearcoat - detailed last summer by the local car wash, & a 10 yr. old Jeep & pickup truck with original paint/clearcoat that are run thru car washes with nothing else being done to them.
The 10 yr. olds I'll probably work on only once or twice a year, the others probably every couple months or so. I've been thinking of getting the 5" MF backing plate & pads but don't know if the finishing pad would be too much for the new cars' paint; would a foam finishing pad be better in terms of applying a sealant/wax after clay, & would any foam pads work with the MF backing plate? Is that plate designed to work only with the MF pads? Also, I have lots of products I can use, haven't bought the MF correction or finishing polishes yet, nor the W67DA plate. Can my current polishes, waxes, sealants be used? Thanks for any advice you can give. Joe
