  • SpotLight Questions ?

    im going to buy a spot light for detailing today just wondrening. should i get a xenon or halogen. and how much candle power is good for a detailing light ?

        Im using a 500w halogen lamp attached to a stand.
        I bought it from Ace hardware at about 20usd. Works great. downside is that its a bit hot.
        I find it dries up the compound faster. coupled with the hot and humid weather I have here.. not really good.

        Maybe the newer LED ones are much cooler therefore easier to work with.

          I know the Brinkmann's dual xenon is a favorite, they use to sell them at Pep Boys but I haven't seen them in stock for a while now....wish I picked one up. I use a Surefire 6P Defender flashlight which puts out 120 lumens (incandescent) . I like it, it picks up swirls and other defects when I do my spot checks. Only thing though is that the light is concentrated so its hard to distinguish hazing and you won't pick up any marring or buffer trails unless you pull the car out into sunlight.
          Other then that, I love my Surefire especially with my work and those pesky storms that take out the power!
