What pad are u using ?
For hard polishing, you are generaly better served with 4" and 5,5" pads in my experience. 6,5" and 7" are too big for this work with a DA.

What pad were you using? I have a GM. It was somewhat hard. I used Ultimate Compound with a Megs yellow 7" pad. Had to press pretty hard. What 7" didn't get, the 4" did. Many SLOW passes and firm pressure.

You can't make a blanket statement about GM paint. The newer Corvettes I have owned have mostly been hard as a rock, and the Avalanche and Saab I have are fairly soft. The Red colors seem to be harder than the blacks, however.
