  • Old Excess Touch Up Paint on Black Car

Recently purchased a 2010 Chrysler 300 in Brilliant Black. Previous owner attempted to touch up scratches on the hood and trunk deck lid but it appears that they just used the brush in the cap of the touch up paint bottle to cover the scratches. Now I have 1/4" to 3/8" inch wide uneven stripes of touch up paint where the scratches were. Can I repair this with just my D/A and the Microfiber System or am I looking at wet sanding to fix this? Do I need a rotary to get the 3000 grit sand marks out or can I get by with the D/A? I have the D/A Microfiber System and 105/205 with 5" and 3" burgandy foam pads. I am planning on going over the entire car with the D/A Microfiber System (300 & 301) this week and hoping to at least make this a bit better for now. Thanks for any advise...

Wetsanding would be in order for removing paint blobs. I have removed 2,500 grit sanding marks out with a PC in the past.

I would order blob eliminator from the Langka Chip repair system. That stuff is my secret weapon when it comes to blob removal before I turn to wet sanding as a last resort.

Does that work on old blobs (cured paint months old)) or just when it is a "new" blob?
        Thanks.

I have used it on touch up blobs that cured for 4 months and have had very good results. The longer the paint cures, the harder it is to remove the blob but it does get the job done. If you call the # on the web site, the owner will answer all your questions (at least he did for me).

Its a great product but it lacks the marketing dollars the larger companies have so its not that well known.

How is the Langka chip repair system different than wet sanding? Is it a chemical process that breaks down the blobs or something? Thanks in advance!!
