  • UC Not working good ?

i dont know what im doing wrong ive done uc on 2 black cars both with a whole lot of scratches that arent deep and all the uc is doing is removing swirls and making the scratches slightly lighter but im using it the right way with a g110v1 cutting pad and ive tried polishing pad 2 going slow 2 inch per second almost medium pressure then switching to light pressure after working it in then wipe with a supreme shine mf and its not working im thinking of picking up some 105 maybe its better

SunnyD, it's time for some photos.

I really get the feeling you're in too much of a hurry. Mike Phillips used the word "passion" sometimes to describe working on paint. To me that meant loads of pressure, slow arm speed and in a small area of no more than 2' X 2'.

If you can't get a 2 X 2 area cleared up, then yes it may be time to move to a more aggressive product.

Remember sometimes there is dusting associated with using M105. You may wish to use more tape then usual as the dust will go everywhere and required a lot of your time in clean up.

M105 may also create some micro-marring, even sometimes marring, so be prepared to remove that. Many folks use M205 to clear up that marring.

    Good luck.

M105 is about the most aggressive product out there for a DA (I think), although maybe the D300 combo with the a MF pad is more aggressive.

Maybe that would be the way to go.

If I was you, UC and M105 are very similar so why not diversify and get some of the MF polishing pads and D300.

Also, keep in mind, there might be some scratches that are too deep to remove via DA.

Does the scratch of depth? Can you feel it with your nail?

Re: UC Not working good ?

I had the same problem before as your having now.
What I had to do it this, used UC and a green pad for those bad swirls and scratches.
I then worked a 16x16 area, slowed my arm speed down to a point that it took a few mintues to work the small area.
Then went to my orange pad using UP to clean it up.
For the most part it removed them, had a couple that wouldn't come out so I then used a glaze to help hide them.
If the clear is really hard you may have to work it more to remove them.
I know the clear on a Corvette is really really hard, it took me 20 hours to correct the car.
If you can't grab the scratch with your nail then you should get it out with a lot of work.
UC is a very good product but sometimes you just have to work very hard to get the results you want.
Using the correct pad is key.
