  • New painted body parts - how to take care?

I'm going to be picking my STi up from the body shop today after a really really long month w/o it.

They replaced the front bumper (plastic) and the right fender (metal). I'm assuming they painted them to match my car(as opposed to buying them pre-painted from factory), so its fairly fresh paint.

My question is, what can i do to take care of the new panels? I read somewhere that you dont want to wax new paint for a certain amount of time?

    Thanks!

Typical is anywhere from 30 to 90 days, ask your painter, he should have a better idea of his products and what care they require.

Otherwise you can use any of the pure polishes to keep the panels clean until they properly cure or use #80 which has a bodyshop/fresh paint-safe polymer in it which will give you a little protection.
