  • Should one stay in the same family line when using Meguiar's products?

I have a fairly new (bought it in April of this year) Mitsubishi Lancer GTS 2011. The first time I washed it I used a car wash solution given to me by the company that sealed the paint on the car. I then became a member on this sight and realized I was going to be a Medguirs user from here on out . My first wax on the car was with Meguiar's Gold Class Carnauba Plus (G7016)and it came out great. The last few weeks I have been maintaining the just waxed look using Meguiars Quik Detailer (A3316).

Not wanting to use the wash solution provided by the paint sealer company anymore I went out and bought some Meguiar's Ultimate Wash and Wax (G17748) and washed the car this morning with it. It was a great experience and the look was amazing.

Should I continue to use the Quick Detailer or should I use the Ultimate Quik Detailer (G14422) now in between waxing? I am wanting to know if I should stay with the same family line of products (using only the Ultimate line now) or is it okay to mix them?

This brings up another questions as well. When I wax the car next time should I use Ultimate Wax (G18211 or G18216) or stay with the Gold Class Carnauba Plus I used the first time?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

To be honest, I don't think it really matters. It all comes down to what you're trying to achieve. Just because it says Ultimate, it doesn't mean it was designed to work exclusively with other Ultimate products.

For example, the UW&W is great for washing your car in between fresh coats of wax, but the Gold Class Wash is much better for a full detail, since you'll be applying fresh wax and won't need the wax from the UW&W.

Between my Deep Crystal Carnauva Wax and the Ultimate Wax that I now use, I prefer the Ultimate Wax because it gives the paint a deeper wet look.

I would recommend doing more research to figure out which products will achieve the results you're looking for.

I guess I need to figure out what line is the best to bring out the deep blue look of the paint then. I have read that different paints require different techniques to bring out the color.

I would give Ultimate Wax a try, it seems to be really good at bringing out the richness in colors. It is rather expensive though.

Cool. The cost is minimal when it comes to keeping the car looking great though.

I usually pick up all my Meguiars stuff from Advance Auto Parts, since they always have promotion codes for like 40% off.

Most of us have products from all the lines (Consumer, Detailer, and Pro), and use whatever fits the situation. You can mix and match all you want.
