  • Blue haze streaks after waxing my black car with NXT

I'm new here, like the forum.

I have used NXT wax with good results on my silver 2008 Saab 9-3 (although it is hard to tell where I've applied the wax before buffing out) but I tried using it on my 1997 Saab 900 and after I was done, I noticed an inconsistent bluish haze in the reflection. Washing the car did not remove it.

What caused this and ss there a way to remove it? Should I try a different wax? I have never had this problem with any other wax in 14 years of owning the car.

It was a bit sunny when I was waxing but it was a cool day. Perhaps I just applied too much wax?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to MOL!

How thick did you apply the wax? Remember a thin coat of wax is key! Have you read this thread yet on how to apply a thin coat of wax?

How to apply a very thin coat of wax with a G110v2

That thread should give you an idea on how thinly you should be applying the wax even if you're using hand application.

Also, when you said it was sunny but it was a cool day, were you applying the wax in direct sunlight? If so then this could be a problem. It is recommended to apply NXT 2.0 in a cool and shaded area.

Let us know and we might be able to solve your problem!

Thanks for the reply. I'll make sure I do it properly next time, but I've never had a problem with any other wax in this regard. Is there a way to get rid of the blue haze? Would re-waxing help or do I just have to let it fade away as the wax wears away?

      Thanks again!

Can you please post a picture of the blue haze?

I would try to re-wax it using thin coats and doing it in the shade.

I have had this happen on my black Expedition when using Gold Class on top of #7. I thought it was just the oils moving to the surface. It seemed to go away in a day or two. But if yours is staying even after a wash is doesn't sound like an oil issue. I always had it on the hood and I still have a problem a lot of times with that area hazing not so much blue just hazy. Maybe it is something under the wax that is giving us this look.

Sorry for the delay. I washed the car today with Meguiars Gold Class car wash (my usual) and the blue haze is gone. I have a feeling most of it was gone a week ago.

It was like the type of haze when an oily substance is rubbed on the surface of paint. Might it have been a reaction with prior wax that I had used? That was Eagle One Nanowax I believe.

I guess I'll be sure not to wax in the sun and to put on a really thin coat.

Re: Blue haze streaks after waxing my black car with NXT

NXT is a great wax but MUST be applied thin. I use a cheapo 30$ wax spreader from Autozone and works very well. Being heavy handed will make it tougher and put unneeded effort to remove as it does not protect any better then 2 coats with a good cure time in between.

Remember also to get some Ultimate QUICK WAX and use it always after washing as it helps boost the wax layer and adds insane water beading.
