Re: Ultimate compund and scratch X

I am noob at detailing. Figured I would use my 2000 Honda Civic as a "learning project'. Based on advice on this forum, I bought UC & UP. I already had some NXT. Even though these are my first attempts to make corrections, it is totally amazing what the car looks like now. I have a question--there are some fairly fine scratches in my trunk I can't seem to get out. Just used my new 7424XP for the first time last weekend; not as much impact with this highly rated D/A as I expected, which makes me think I am not using quite enough elbow grease with it. Advice please!! Should I keep working really small sections until the fine scratches are gone? Fingernail does not "catch" in them. THANKS!!!

Re: Ultimate compund and scratch X

I drive a school bus and I trying to clean up some of the yellow panels that are oxidized with a creamy white oxidation. I tried Cleaner Wax and it works great on clean panels. It obviously is not intended for severe oxidation. I then tried Ultimate Compound. It just does not do the job. I have tried it with foam, micro-fiber and terry cloth applicators...by hand and with an orbital buffer. It just cannot cut the oxidation. My next product will be the Ultra Cut Compound, M105. The question is do you think that the Ultra Cut Compound will do the job and is the right product to use next? (Off subject but as a side note, I have 32 windows on the bus and the Meguires Professional Window Cleaner with the Meguires Micro Fiber towels is absolutely awsome. Please believe me I have tried everything on my windows at least twice and the Meguires product is by far and away the very best. The Micro Fiber towels are simply the best you can buy.)
