  • scratches, chips. paint overspray

I recently purchased a CelicaGT but I need help. There are a lot of paint chips, scatches, and also the car is covered with paint overspray from what the body shop says is household paint. Any ideas on how to get rid of this smooth things out so I can at least put some shine back into this. Trying to do this with hand pads does not work. I do have a sears buffer now but I only have wool pads and terry cloth pads.. Any ideas???

Go to your local auto parts store and get some clay. That will easily remove the overspray. Meguiar's make some clay.

Ya try the clay first. That should work, moreso if its recent overspray. If not then buy a proper dual action polisher like Griot grage 6" and some pads. Clay doesn't remove everything, but my DA with megs ultimate compound tends too. It may seem like a big investment, 150 or so, but its well worth it. if you buy one from sears and invest in terry cloth pads/wool bonets you will be wasting your money. It just doesn't have the power and refinement to get the job done well.

Buy cheap and buy twice. megs clay is pretty nice. its like 20 bucks at most autopart stores or walmart or even hardware stores.

I do have a plain buffer from sears not a DA with terry cloth and wool pads. And I do have Megs clay, compound, scratchX, polish and wax all Megs products. It's very hard for me to do this stuff I am disabled. It takes it toll on me when doing things due to pain and breathing issues. But I do not have funds to pay to get it done as I have been to a couple places and most when see it say they want four to five hundred to do it.

Thank you for the info. I will keep going on it.
