  • Why GCCP wax didn't work ?

hi guys, first of all i love meguiar's product soo much, but i wonder why GCCP didn't make my paint darker or deeper ? my car is toyota yaris, color black mica... ( i wish i have pure black car )

i already wash my car with GC shampoo and conditioner
then i clay my car with megs clay kits
than i use ultimate compound <--- at this step my paint go darker and deeper like already been polish...

and then i jump to GCCP wax because i haven't restock my deep crystal polish yet..

but the funny thing is my car paint don't get darker or deeper, i wax my car with thin even layer, wait till it cure for more or less 20 minutes...

i wonder why... UC make my paint darker but GCCP not ?
i wish some body can give me enlightment ^^
    thanks a lot

Carnauba gives high gloss and warm natural look.

If you want to add paint depth and darkness then NxT Tech Wax 2.0 or Ultimate Wax would be your products to go with.

You prepared your surface well before wax though. Polish would add some gloss and wet look to your surface. I recommend Ultimate Polish or M07 Show Car Glaze due to their super rich polishing oils.

Well, there is a limit... Using the UC may have gotten it as far as possible.

Maybe can try Ult. Polish next time if you dont defects to remove now.

Did you tape off a section to compare before & after waxing? As MURR suggests, perhaps the finish after UC was so nice though that it was hard to tell what GC added. Every car/paint reacts a bit differently, but my experience is that GC does provide darkening, although not quite as much as TW or UW.

          yes, i do tape it...
i working by hand my car's hood by UC for more or less one hour, small section at a time...

maybe it as dark as it can go...thanks for the advise, i'll try ultimate polish or deep crystal polish next time then...

do you think DC polish will make the colour darker than UC ?

UC and DC polish serve different purposes, UC is for paint correction/swirl removal/paint restorer, it brings back to life neglected paint finishes while the deep crystal polish or #7 show car glaze has no abrasive/cleaning properties. It is applied after paint correction has been done and replenishes the paint with polishing oils to really give that rich look especially on black. Its like lotion for your paint, then a coat of wax seals in that shine.

Remember, DC polish and SHow car glaze is a wipe on, wipe off product. It is worked into the paint and removed WHILE WET. The new DC polish label says to let it dry, but i've asked megs some time ago that no reformulation has been done, so it is still a wipe-on wipe-off product..

hi ffboy, thanks for the answer, i know bout that, but my point is, my black mica car has go to it's maximum dark colour when i apply UC, so then after even i apply GCCP wax, the colour won't go darker... so what i curious is that if i use DC polish, do you think it still can be push to even darker colour than GCCP can't achive ? thanks

                Hey Phantom,

Black can only go so dark and then there is no darkness left to achieve. Gold Class wax can only add warmth when black paint is well prepped.

And lets not forget that your paint is now well protected and slick. So enjoy.

                  Phantom,

Just curious, are you working by hand or with a buffer?

                  Thanks,
