  • Painted Rim Care Question

I have a 2011 VW Jetta Sportline with 18", accent black painted, spoked rims and I would like to know if Meguiar's makes a polish that will protect these against almost everything that gets on a rim under normal use.
    Thanks

    Re: Painted Rim Care Question

For painted rims, you can use clay and the regular paint products.

      Re: Painted Rim Care Question

As Murr suggested, you want to treat a painted wheel surface like a painted car panel. Use very gentle wheel cleaners, just be sure to use them often and not let the break dust build up.

Ideally, regular washing should allow you to get away with using the same car wash soap as used on the rest of the car.

After that, a good claying and then waxing is about as much as you can do. Keep in mind that wheels are a much harsher environment than the body of the car due to the proximity to the brakes, the heat, dust, etc, so wax longevity will be reduced.
