  • 1998 Honda S2000 Ascari red is it CC or SS?

Hi guys, I have a Honda S2000 to detail in a few weeks. It's year of manufacture is 1998.

I will need to carry out a few stone chip repairs. So I have asked the customer to purchase a touch up pen from Honda but they have only give him 1 pen. I would of thought he would of got a colour and a clear coat.

So I'm now thinking its single stage paint. I will need to do a tester when I get the car and see if the red comes off on a cloth. Could anyone give me some help or advise. Best Megs products to use if its SS.

    Many Thanks,

    Rappy

I can't answer for sure if the Honda is S/S or clear coat. However, not sure it is mandatory for clear coated touch up paint to be sold in two "stages". I have had more than one clear coated finish that the dealer has sold me genuine factory paint, and it has been in one bottle.

It will vary though. I had a red Subaru which was clear coated. Came with colour, and separate clear in a little "kit". Next car was a dark blue clear coated Subaru. Guess what? One bottle of combined colour and clear.

I've seen VW touch up paint in both formats, and my current car (GM) is a single bottle even though it's clear coated paint too.

It will depend on the manufacturer.

      Thanks Selectchoice .

Thinking about it I seem to remember that some touch ups combine both CC & paint colour.

My VW has 2 touch ups. One black pearl and the other CC.
