  • DC 1&2 or M-80

Hey I'm a newbie here and i have a few questions. I have a black 2004 Acura TSX that's 6 months old that has some light swirls, nothing too severe. I've always used Meguairs car wash and microfiber drying towels. I wash with a lambs wool mitt and I have the Meg's Ultimate bucket with the grit guard insert. My car is garage kept and when I go to work if it's nice i put the car cover on. So when it's nice my car is only exposed about 2-3 hours a day most of the time. I never put the cover on when it or the car is dirty, I try to wash the cover atleast once a week in the summer. I rarely use the car duster and never when the car is really dirty, light dust only.

#1 This is my plan of action, think it'll work? (feel free to make any ajustments, all commments appreciated)

A- Pressure Wash to remove loose dirt/grime using GC wash.
B- Wash with NXT Wash by hand.
    C- Clay entire car.
D- Apply DC1 with PC, remove with ultimate wipe.
E- Apply DC2 with PC, remove with ultimate wipe.
F- Apply NXT with PC, remove with ultimate bonnet. (2 coats with 12hrs. between)

    #2 Should I replace D & E with M80?

#3 What do you think is causig the swirls?

Sorry for the long post, just trying to cover all of the details.

    CL9,

Keep in mind that DC1 is a chemical paint cleaner and will do little to remove swirls......... other than some extremely light ones.

Also keep in mind that DC2 is more of a glaze, without abrasives, and will also do little to remove swirls/imperfections......... it will probably "hide" some though.

#80 is better designed to remove light swirls and imperfections.

If it were me, I would probably go with the DC1, then #80 (or #9), and then #2.

Serioulsy, I love using a good paint cleaner like DC1 as the first part of my process, as it cleans the paint extremely well, and gives me a true picture of the paint condition before the next step. It also insures that the next step in the process will not be picking up any contaminates and can do it's job better.

Seeing a true picture of the paint condition allows me to better select the next product that I need to use.

Thanks BOSS, so which of the two #80 or #9? Does either work better on black? Is one more severe than the other. I think that by reading these forums I atleast know that you should use the least abbrasive product as possible to get the job done right?

        You're welcome!

#80 (Speed Glaze) is a bit more abrasive than #9, and will remove slightly more severe swirls. Both are good products, and it's nice to have both to follow the "least abrasive product" theory.

Just to add to what Boss_429 wrote...

If in fact you have swirls in your car's finish, then the M80 Speed Glaze will be more effective at removing them with a dual action polisher than the M09 Swirl Remover 2.0.

The M09 is most effective for removing swirls when applied with a rotary buffer because of the more aggressive nature of the direct drive rotating action.

M80 Speed Glaze offers a little more bite and thus is more effective for actually removing the swirls when using the dual action polisher with its oscillating action.

            I think I'll try the #80.
