  • UQD streaking, why?

Ive never had a problem with any other meguiars products as much as I have with the ultimate quick detailer. NXT 2.0 streaking? very lightly but disappeared. UQW also light streaking but not too bad. Now UQD is becoming a nightmare for me. Ive tried everything from using a small amount directly on a microfiber cloth to trying small sections at a time, the weather is just right and I dont use it in the sun. I purchased it from walmart, so maybe it sat for awhile. Any advice?

Sounds like your doing everything is right on your end.

    Might be a bad batch.

Just wondering.....recently the EPA required reformulation of many products. I'm seeing changes in some products I sell to RV detailers. The changes have not been for the good. Wonder if Meguiar's has had to make changes too???

This is very odd as UQD is just a mist & wipe product, albeit with some hydrophobic polymers in it. We just don't see cases of this product streaking at all. How much are you using - ie, how many trigger pulls - for an area like half of the hood? Is your microfiber towel getting saturated with product? How recently was the vehicle waxed?

We fall under the auspices of the South Coast Air Quality Management District and they are even more stringent than the EPA. Still, we have not had any recent reformulations due to changing regulations so that's not the issue here.

It was waxed about a month ago. It definitely glides on the surface, for a panel I usually do 3 quick pulls. I had the bottle replaced today so ill see what happens. Also I use uqw usually after a week or two or after torrential rains.

I've posted something previously about this in here to help someone with a similar issue.

It also streaks on my car (2009 Holden Calais). The streaking is then joined by a hazy appearance a few minutes after applying. Looks like a drying wax not wiped off yet.

For me, I switched to lightly spraying a microfibre towel (Supreme Shine of course...) and they lightly wiping the panel, and immediately wiping the UQD off with a clean, dry Supreme Shine microfibre towel. Problem solved.

To clarify, it has only happenned on my car, not other cars I have worked on. And that is with same bottle of product, same towels, so fairly comparable.

FYI Last Touch does the same on my car. Regular Quik Detailer works fine.
