  • NXT 2.0 Over Top Ult Wax

Anyone tried topping NXT 2.0 over Ult Wax. Just wondering????

Re: NXT 2.0 Over Top Ult Wax

The only thing I would top UW with is GCCP.

Topping with with a different sealant seems kind of silly to me. Either I would add another coat of UW or top with the GCCP

Most people top with a carnuba. Topping with Gold Class seems silly to me because it has cleaners in it that can remove the sealant. IMO better topper would be #26

Michael answered it in this Ultimate Wax thread

Also, read through the NXT Tech Wax 2.0 thread, plenty of good reading and answers

With the polymer load of UW it's probably going to be best to apply it first, let it dry, wipe off and then apply a coat of NXT the next day.

Overall cure time for UW is probably a bit longer than that of NXT.

We all see things a bit differently, we all like different things. There really is no "right" or "wrong" to this final selection so play around a bit and find something that suits you and your vehicle.

First off, we think many people will debate that sealing the paint is the most important step in detailing, instead arguing that prep is 90% or more of the total process. But that's a debate for another time.

Nonetheless, we certainly understand your concerns regarding streaking. But a properly applied (ie, thin and uniform) coat of wax or sealant that is then allowed to dry sufficiently should not pose any streaking issues. Now, some waxes/sealants do take longer to dry than others, and sometimes a professional detailer does not have the time to wait (especially if environmental conditions are such that they will prolong drying time). Plenty of those guys use M21, M20, M26, etc and have never experienced streaking issues of any kind, while achieving stunning results.

It should also be noted that applying some synthetics over another synthetic may actually increase the chance of streaking since that first layer can make it a bit more difficult for the polymers in the second product to take hold. Let's be very clear here - this is not a terribly common situation, nor is it really a question of two products not being compatible with each other. It's sort of the nature of polymer products. Which is why some manufacturers stress that the paint be totally clean and devoid of any previous sealant.

We know that no single product is going to be everyone's favorite, which is part of the reason we make so many different waxes.
