  • Paint cloudy on 1990 Jaguar XJS

Bought the V-12 convertible for $1.00, it had been sitting on a farm under a tree since 2007, took 2 weeks to gently remove the 5 years worth of dirt and grime and moss on the top. The top has 5 major holes in it and is shot as is the interior. The ice blue paint has a haze in it and when I use your cleaner wax the rag keeps coming up dirty. The paint looks pretty good until you really look closely at it. When finished waxing the paint has a haze in it almost like the clearcoat is slowly coming off. What can I do for it. The body has little or no rust, the electrics and top work and we have the engine running. The car is superb.

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online, Rick.

What you experience is a clear coat failure. Therefore you pick up the base coat on your applicator from those areas where clear is gone.

The only way to fix it - respraying paint.
To temporarily make it look better - gentle polish and wax.

A pic would help most, but yeah, CC failure cant be fixed.
