  • First time claying...need some advice pls

    Hi,

I plan to clay and wax with the products I currently have. Please let me know if the below sequence is okay.

    1. Wash vehicle
    2. Clay bar(s) with Quick Detailing
    3. Cleaner wax
    4. Tech Wax 2.0

Can I mix Quick Detailing with water in case I am about to run out? I do not have easy access to the products since I live outside the US and all were imported.

    Thanks a lot!

The plan of attack looks fine.

If you dilute a quick detailer you're gonna decrease its lubrication ability.

Only Last Touch Spray Detailer D155 gets mixed with water 1:1 to create a clay lubricant.

Which quick detailer are you going to use?

Thanks for your response. I will be using this, the 32oz one.

Hope it will be sufficient for my mid size SUV.

You could use some soapy water to clay. However break the clay into a smaller piece to do this, as the soap could break down the clay if it is stored for a while.

Wouldnt want to break down your whole block of clay.

Ditto on using the soapy water as a lubricant. I wash, clay, then wash again (very quickly) to get a very clean car finish.

Remember: take your time. Don't be afraid to spray liberally. You'll know if you haven't sprayed enough because the clay will start to drag.

Always work in small sections 1'x1' is what i use for claying - but up to 2'x2' seems to be acceptable. If you accidentally let any of the QD residue dry, just spray some more on the affected area and wipe it off with a microfiber towel.

I clay bar'ed my 08 GMC Acadia and the bottle of Quick Detailer was enough. Spray liberally and it really helps to watch the video. I'll be clay barring my vehicle again this year since a Canadian witer wreaks havoc on a vehicle.
