  • How to maintain the detailing result??? Any advice will be better!!!

Hi guys, since I have detailed my car, I want to know the secret recipes to maintain the result. Wheter how to wash and clean it, any advice would be better.
For example if there are so many muds on the paint after I take the car out and then wash it (off course with the correct methods), after several wash, there are some light swirls occured. And I guess it's impossible and not efficient if I polish the car every two month. There must be some way I don't know to prevent the swirls occurance.
And is it necessary to buy high pressure washer to wash the car???
FYI: I rarely use the car, maybe 4 times a month I take the car out. And the year of the car is 2008, the kilometer is 32,145 km. I think my paint is soft too.
So guys, please give me some advice about it....
Thanks in advance guys for the advice..

Hi Jefri, great work on your other posts.

For my cars and customers. I always use a pressure washer.

Pre wash with a snow foam & always use two buckets with grit guards and a good quality lambs wool wash mitt.

Try to touch the paint as least as possible. I always sheet the water off first. Place a water magnet on the car and let it soak away the water. I tend not to rub with the water magnet. I hold it and let the weight of the towel drag the water off the surface.

My method will help you reduce swirls. Also use Ultimate quick wax after every wash.

When washing your car, use a good quality wash mit and car wash shampoo, use the 2 bucket method. when drying, let the water sheet (flood rinse) to minimize water spots and minimize the need to use any drying towels. And i use smooth flowing, sweeping motions when wiping the car, no pressure needed. Just "guide" it across tha panels.

Swirls? well.. Its difficult to prevent it.. It can only be minimized (in my view), sometimes even the best technique can still instill swirls.

I am sure you have seen Mike Phillips car wash video. Be sure to doing that with all the right tools, good quality items, etc.

If your paint is that soft... then you'll always pick up a couple swirls when you touch the paint.

Hi Rappy, so it is impossible to prevent the swirls to occur, and I can only reduce the swirls with your methods, right? Some says that I should use ONR when washing the car, but I still don't know how to apply it and what the benefit of applying it.
          Anyway thanks for the advice.

Hi ffboy, I have done the proper washing technique like you said with two buckets, washmitt etc but the swirls keep coming back. Well it is not too many there are a few new swirls after 2 months (I noticed it after my partial detailing on february).
So now when washing, I'll just try not to touch the paint as least as possible...
And it will be hard not to touch the paint

Have to just try to minimize it.

Good rinses to get all the gritty dirt off. Soft towels/mitts. And then soap to lubricate everything.

I think you were using the Deep Crystal soap... maybe look into Gold Class.

Right now my ammos: megs mf wash mitt, megs soft wash gel or megs ultimate wash and wax, water magnet, megs mf towel and cg elite mf towel.
And planning to buy: karcher high pressure washer, ONR and lambs wool wash mitt.
I've done the proper washing tecnique but to minimize swirls maybe I should wash more carefully and try not to rub the paint as least as possible. Right now that's all in my mind about the solution.
Because it will be wasting time and remove the paint the paint to the bottom if I polish my car every two months when the swirls come again.
                  Thanks Matt for sharing..

If you have a vehicle with very delicate, scratch sensitive paint, it can be a real challenge to keep it swirl free in the long term. From personal experience, I used to have two cars that sat side by side in the same garage, both being treated exactly the same way; same wash/dry process, same polishes and waxes, same quick detailer wipe downs on a very regular basis, etc. The biggest difference between them is that one was a daily driver and the other just a weekend toy. The daily driver accumulated approximately 10,000 miles per year, the weekend toy only about 2,500 miles per year. So the weekend toy wasn't washed anywhere near as often (it only went out on sunny days, too!), wasn't quick detailed anywhere near as often, so it wasn't touched very much at all. But the paint on it was super sensitive, so I was always fighting swirls with it. The paint on the daily driver was just fantastic - super easy to buff out and very, very scratch resistant. It hasn't been touched by a buffer, other than to apply wax, in several years now!!

So no matter how careful you are, the paint is going to have a huge role in whether swirls start to show up or not.

Yeah, gentle, just wiping, not rubbing the paint.

Hi Mike, now the revealed, based on your story, I now realize on how difficult to maintain my car from swirls free, but I'll keep on searching how to maintain it well. Once I know how, I let everybody in here know... I am really curious about it
Thanks for sharing your experience Mike. See you...
