  • Going directly from clay to ultimate wax ok?

Is it OK to go directly from claying my car (using a quick detailer and drying with a cloth) to applying a coat of ultimate quick wax? Does the quick detailer need to be removed/cleaned off in any way? Thanks.

Well... you can, though some sort of cleaning step would be recomended.

I mean, if the surface needs clayed, it is probably dirty as well.

Some detailers rewash cars after claying to remove any clay lubricant but it's not necessary.

If you use a pre-wax cleaner it will prepare the paint surface for wax application better by removing old wax residue and below surface problems. ColorX is a mild cleaner wax and it can be used for that purpose.

I would say it's ok. Meguiar's put a sample of cleaner wax in their clay bar kits so at the very least, you should put a coat of wax after claying it. But like everybody said, a good paint cleaner or a mild swirl remover is a better approach.

Well, a cleaner/wax would count as a cleaning step.

If your going go through claying a car, a clean up process should be done next. I agree with Murr.

My car was fairly clean and just trying out Ult. Wax. I almost clayed but due to time and just trying out stuff, I went from wash, dry, to wax.
