Hey guys I have been using Meguiar's products for years now and always used them on my show car. I just picked up a demo 2011 Ford Flex Limited and have some minor scratches to repair. The ones in the paint I will just use the Scratch-X and then wax to do the job. Paint problems are not too much of an issue for me but it is the trunk piece that I am unsure of. On the Flex Limited's the trunk piece has that shiny aluminum piece that goes across it. What I think has happned is the dealership had hung a dealer plate from the rear windshield wiper so it swung and scratched this piece. These scratches are driving me nuts. Does anyone know what product and what I should do to get these surface scratches out. When the sun hits it they look like ****. Last night I did apply some wax on a small spot to see what it would do and it did clean them up a bit. I believe this aluminum piece has a clear coat on it so I am thinking maybe the scratch-X might work? Then some wax? I just don't want to screw up the finish on the piece since it is not like paint that is easy to repair. Anyone ever deal with this before? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

Re: Help with Ford Flex Truck Piece
It all depends on what the top surface material of the piece is made out of. I will suggest to go ahead and join a ford flex forum and find out exactly what the trunk piece is made out of. If it is clear coated, then you can treat it just like any other panel on your truck.
Let us know what material you are working on once you find out for sure.
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
Remove swirls my friends.

Re: Help with Ford Flex Truck Piece
I am a member of the Ford Flex forum and a few guys there said it is polished aluminum and it is clear coated. I was just wondering if anyone knew different or any bodyshop guys ever deal with this. I am assuming it does have clear coat on it. Like I said the wax I used on a small spot last night seemed to help a bit but didn't want to do too much untill I got some advice from detail experts.

Re: Help with Ford Flex Truck Piece
Well according to the Ford Flex board it is clear coated and can be repaired just like paint. I sure hope this is the case because I can not stand scratches on my car. These ones hit the sun light and really show too because of the polished finish. I know when I did put some wax on a small spot it seemed to help so I am going to try some Scratch -X on a small spot and see if it is just clear coat scratches I can remove. Was really hoping someone on here would know since these pieces are used on teh high end F150's too. I am sure there are people that have scratches on them.
