  • is this normal??

    hi again guyz..

i just use my D/A for the 1st time..there's a problem..i use my G110v2 with M105 against my Audi..i've work on the hood for 1 - 2 hours and it just get rid 85% of the swirls..is it normal for a hard paint like audi??i haven't even get the chance to work on othr place..and i can't get rid of a stubborn water spot etching..i've use my D/A against it 5 or 6 times and it just won't disappear..and now my D/A is really hot i have to stop using it for a while..

how long you guyz usually use a D/A??2 hours??

and also, when i'm using my D/A, i get white flakes all over my hood..and it's really hard to wipe away..is it normal??

is there anyone who experience that kind of problem??

btw, how much time you spent on detailing a whole car??panel by panel...

    thx..

    Re: is this normal??

lil update..just finished 3 panels..4 to go..the paint on audi is hard as hell..take me 6 passes of M105 with slow arm speed and speed 6 to reduce the swirls..reduce it to 5% or 10% of the swirls..my arm is really sore now..

but i'm happy with the result..not perfect, but dramatically improved..

      Re: is this normal??

      Hi there,

I have a VW Passat and have very hard paint. I have spent 3 days on my car and thats constant use 8 hr a day.

With ref to white flakes sounds like the product you are using is drying out. You need to re apply more product before the pad drys out.

With ref to speed. I would not go above 5. Also I would reduce your work area size and apply more pressure and slower passes.

Have you got a mark on your backing plate? That way you can apply firm pressure while making sure your d/a is spinning.

      Hth's,

      Rappy

        The above advice is solid.

Also, maybe invest in some 5.5" pads if they are available where you are. This will allow the DA to work more efficiently. Remember, on a DA the smaller the pad the greater the power.

What pad are you using with the 105?

Ypu should be getting some more correction with that than you have. But if you are getting 85% correction you are doing a good job. Finish the car with that and then put your wax on it. After that then pull it out in the sun and look. If its not up to your expectaions then at least you can rest up for the next detail.

                  uhm..wanna ask something again..

when i'm buffing, should i first spread the product across the area i wanna work with and then use slow arm speed to overlap those area??

coz last time, i just apply to one area first and then move slooooooooowly..not spread the product around..

Yes,. I find that works best for me. Also no higher than speed 5. As it can damage pads.
