  • Polishing Pad PC7424

    Hello everyone,

Just have a quick question...when exactly should I use the polishing pad that came with my PC7424? After I apply a product such as SwirlX? Or once I am completely finished detailing the car? Also what speed should I use?

I'm kinda upset with myself...as I have been working on my cars and haven't taken advantage of the polishing pad.

i dont know if that polishing pad is good...i remember someone saying he bought a PC and the pad it came with was junk...but idk.

but i'd use a polishing pad with swirlx...speed 5 should be good.
but what are u trying to do?

Some like the pad and some don't. You can go ahead and give it a shot with Swirlx and see how it plays. Yuo could use it at speed 3 or 4 with no problems.

It wouldn'tbe used after Swirlx unless you were going to use another finishing polish to use it with.

I hope you weren't thinking of just running the pad on the paint without any product.

If you are talking about the white pad(?) similar to the one that came with my PC, I would not ever let it touch the paint on my car. The pad is hard, way harder than a Meguiar's yellow pad. It's not really a pad, since it is bonded to the spindle and backing plate. For me at least, using it at speed 5 with SwirlX would spell disaster on my delicate paint.

I used it the first week, over a year ago, with a microfiber bonnet to remove product. It has been on the shelf since.

If you use it, I say be careful where you pick as your test spot. Don't say start on the middle of your hood.

The one you have may, of course, be something completely different and totally acceptable for you.

        Good luck,

Yep, that's the one I have.

I understand why I need to start with the least aggressive method to remove deflects. Therefore, should I began with swirlx, then colorx to bring the shine back, and lastly finish with a pure polish, and obviously some wax?

Also, I have several LC pads...so I don't really need the one that came with the PC(Yeah, it is pretty hard).

Use Swirlx then use a wax.

There is no need to use Colorx unless there is marring from the Swirlx/pad combo. I would use the white LC pad with Swirlx. If there is marring then you can use Colorx and top that with a finishing wax like NXT 2.0 or Gold Class.

If you are going to use a pure polish use it after Swirlx but before putting on any wax. A pure polish is only oils used to smooth the surface and help bring out the shine. It contains no abrasvies and will not remove marring.

If there is some marring and you want to use Colorx then do not use a pure polish since the cleaners in Colorx will remove the pure polish.

Do not use the PC pad unless you absolutely have to. Use the LC pads instead. There shouldn't be any marring from Swirlx since it is a mild cleaner/polish so you should be able to use a pure polish (always considered optional) followed by a finishing wax. Since a finishing wax has no cleaners there is no need to worry about removing the effects of the pure polish.

Good luck! Post some pics when you're done!

Sure you can use it...to polish your fridge, washer and dryer, stove or lawnmower. I used it to try and take a scratch out of my wifes windshield with some cerium oxide....it separated from the backing plate after 10 minutes!
