  • Paint Conditioning Cream steps????

so i want to wax my truck and it needs to be clayed but does d151 Paint Conditioning Cream replace cleaner wax, polish, and wax?
Im doing it all by hand i wish i had a D.A.P, so wanted to know that all the steps are. Thanks every one!

Yes, a cleaner/wax like the 151 contains the cleaning, polishing, and waxing steps.

You may get best results from individual steps, but the cleaner/waxes are a time saver. However, i have seen Tim say that 151 can be a little tougher to use by hand. ColorX or #66 may be a better product.

Murr is correct that individual steps may get you better results. That being said, I really like PRC151. It is a good all around one step product. I do suggest claying first. And I would use a wax afterwards. IMHO it doesn't last as long as a wax like NXT 2.0.

D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream is a great all in one product but I must agree with Murr that it works better with car polishers. If you apply it using a machine you could even do 2 steps switching to a less aggressive buffing pad in step 2.

For hand application, as Murr said, ColorX or M66 Quick Detailer would be the best choices for all in one. I like how Meguiar's describes ColorX - cleaner wax on steroids.

Paint surface preparation with clay bar, for bonded above surface contaminants removal, would be a great step before any cleaner wax (of course if claying is needed). Cleaner waxes are an excellent choice for daily drivers.

For a one step product applied by hand, ColorX is probably going to be your best bet overall - following a clay application if needed, of course.

If you've got the time to put in some extra effort, or you want to achieve a bit better overall result, you might try SwirlX first, then follow with ColorX, Gold Class, NXT, or our new Ultimate Wax.
