  • need help with something

    hi guyz..

i hav a bunch of noob question n i hope u guyz will answer it..
    1. I just bought a preowned black 2001 Audi A6..and i want to detail it myself..can u guyz tell me what is the best product for the 5 step paint care??i myself already have Ultimate Wash n Wax and Quik Detailer..

    2. I think this car has never been waxed before..if i use UC on it,will it 'eat' away the paint??coz i'm thinking to buy UC but hesitated bcoz of this..

    3. I live in Indonesia..the humidity is high and usually it's 26–30 °C outside..i think it can reach until 42°C...it rained a lot too..and i use my car everyday..will it be more difficult to apply meg's product?? IF i waxed it,how long do i need to re-wax??

    thx before..

    1.

    - Wash
    - Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit
    - Clean - SwirlX would be the mild cleaner, UC would be the stronger one if needed
    - Wax - Nxt 2.0
    - Wax - Two thin coats are best.

    2. If you want or need to remove swirls/scratches, then some paint will need removed. However, if you work by hand, with proper applicators, you will not remove too much.

    3. The cleaners and polishes are removed before drying, so not too big of a deal. Waxes that need to dry can take a bit longer to fully dry. Nothing terrible, but you may get a streak or two your first time, until you get a feel for the products.

        Re: need help with something

UC is stronger than scratch X. Rule of thumb is usually if you can feel the scratch it is too deep to fully polish out, so sometimes reducing the scratch's appearance is as good as it gets. pics of the scratch would help.

                    Re: need help with something

You've got scratches in the paint that are so deep that about the only thing that will fix them is a repaint of the panel.

That one shot could be sap, but it looks more a bird dropping or the after effects of same. Aggressive use of a good paint cleaner like Ultimate Compound is going to be called for there.

At the edge of the door it looks more like dried wax, paint cleaner, compound, etc.

The "Audi" logo piece - is the the door sill? If so, it should be aluminum or brushed stainless still, so the piece itself shouldn't rust. You might want to look into some #0000 steel wool to clean that up, along with a small amount of metal polish.

                        Re: need help with something

UC is worth a try - it won't hurt anything but it may not be quite aggressive enough to remove it all. But it also might! Since you have that on hand, by all means, give it a go.
