Would you recommend using APC 4:1 in cleaning the washable air filter?

Hi folks, I would like to ask some question regarding APC. I'm thinking of using 4:1 ratio of APC to clean my K&N filter. Would it harm my 'cotton' gauze when I use APC? Anyone tried to use APC in cleaning their washable air filters?

Sounds like a good idea although I've not tried it. Maybe start with a 10:1 ratio first. See if that gets the job done.

@HCAD, let's wait for the other's input first. I had been reading various website regarding alternative cleaning solution for the K&N. some say "Tide" while others "Simple Green". Makes me wonder if my idea would really work.

It shouldn't cause any problems but honestly, from personal experience I've never seen the need for anything other than a good stream of water to clean a K&N filter.

I'm sure the APC will work ok.....but why not just buy a bottle of K&N filter cleaner....it's pretty cheap at Amazon...and for the big bottle too

To be honest, I just get the kit. The cleaning solution is not the issue half the time. I have tons of that stuff. I can't get enough dye oil as if you want to clean it properly and get it to have it look like it once did brand new, you use almost the whole can.

Mind you never to spray on the inside and allow to fully dry so not to get it on the MAF sensor filiments.

I had to spray and let dry multiple times before getting the correct hue of red uniformly across the surface.

Kinda Annoying.

Oh and just a FYI the filter had like 10k on it but I had not serviced it in over 3 years so it was near white/grey lol.

I was about to buy the K&N cleaner anyway- but my last bottle had formed a residue inside, so I threw it away. But since I need to find something to use while I'm waiting for my order.
