    Re: Which Shop Vac?

OK so I think I have decided on a wet/dry vac that meets my needs and is at a reasonable price. After all my research and your suggestion I got down to my top two picks the Craftsman Clean and Carry 4 gallon vac and the Rigid WD4070. In my research I found that the both vacuums I believe are made by the same company and are designed almost the same except a few band designs that make each a different vacuum. Between the two I think I will go with the Craftsman Clean and Carry. Its a little more appealing and fit the bill of what I am looking for in a detailing vacuum. Also it is still on sale and I will be buying it as a birthday present to myself.

Congrats. You won't be disappointed. It's a great little vac.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I am on the craftsman side as well just because they don't seem to carry the rigid model in stores. I havent seen any hose diameter smaller then 2-1/2 at any store. I also havent seen a car cleaning kit for the rigid. The only one thing rigid has going for them is the blower.

            Re: Which Shop Vac?

I have been researching this for quite some time. I have a 16 gallon Craftsman that is nearing the end of its life.

Does anybody have comments on the blower feature of the Rigid WD4070?

For others here are links to the car kits:

These kits are half of what the vacuum cost? I am not sure this would help me any, only if the nozzle was smaller then the one the vacuum comes with.

Craftsman has a 20.00 dollar kit that would be much more useful then those for the money I feel. I am unable to get the link right now, but will post it when I get home.

But.... I am still unsure which vacuum to get...

I know I'm late to the party, but I have to say my OLD 16 gal Sears Wet-Dry vac has been unbeatable. Bought it in 1980 (really, I did) and nuttin' and I mean NUTTIN' has gone wrong with it. The hoses etc do ware out, but the machine itself is indestructible.

Kinda wish it would die so I could get a new one. But I truly doubt the newer ones would have the same life span.

Oh, washable filters are a must!

                  Did they discontinue this model?

What makes you ask that? If you click the link, you can buy it? The OP just got it too.

The link doesn't let you add it to the cart. It is also out of stock in the zip code I live in. Checked Ebay and amazon and all currently Unavailable.

I did find it at a kmart website that was way less in price. Makes me a little curious.

Is there anywhere else i would be able to purchase this?

It's a bit more expensive, but this is from K-Mart: http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_1...0000031946311P

If you Google the model number with the name of the vacuum, you'll have better chances of finding it.
