Go ahead with the foam applicator. That should help. I agree with the above poster. The cotton towel probably is contributing to the scratches at this point.

I might suggest working the Ultimate Compound with a foam applicator and wiping off with a microfiber towel. if that isn't aggressive enough, try a microfiber covered foam applicator. Foam applicators are sometimes difficult to find, with the microfiber applicator being more common in auto part stores and the Wal Mart types.

Your cotton towel may contribute to some of your problem.

If you're headed to a black car, start with the least aggressive method first on a test spot.

They are too light to see in a photo.
Thats why i can't understand why Ultimate Compound won't them completly out.
On my last white car i always used Dupont white polishing compound they always took the scratchs out.
I tried The Dupont on my Milan when i first got it & it left a haze,i even waxed over it & the haze was still there.
I took it to a Detailer who buffed the haze out.
I am afraid to try Dupont again on the Black finish.
I used a cotton towel on all my attempts.
Anyone live near Telford,Pa ?

What type of applicator were you using?

If foam, maybe you need something with a little more bite.

Im assuming what you have are RIDS, if you are seeing the scratches and no more swirls. Depending on the depth a D/A or rotary may help. Though I do know that I have some on the front of my hood that are deep enough to need very light wet sanding to safely take out.

If you can post some pics, and always the thing I suggest for times like these is to see if any members are close to your area to meet up if they have other tools like a D/A or rotary.

Rotary buffers are what can harm paint finishes in the wrong hands mate, that's why mainly only professionals use them.

Your not wrong, but your not right either............

Rotary polishers are no more difficult to master than a D/A. There's a common thought that a person should start off on a D/A then move to a rotary, however you speak to someone who's used both and they will tell you they're completely different animals and as such, you can't apply what you have learnt with a D/A, to a rotary.

I cut my teeth on a rotary. I looked into it for some time, I read up on articles and pretty much had the technique mapped in my mind. I didn't even use the recommended scrap panel, I went straight to my car.

Personally some sponge jockey washing his car with 3 day old bathwater and an oily rag represents far more danger to paintwork than any rotary polisher.

D/A polishers such as the Meguiar's G110v2 can not damage your paint finish as they have a built in safety feature which automatically stops the pad spinning if you apply too much pressure, it is very safe

You won't hurt the paint finish. I have the Meguiars gl110v2 and love it. I had no prior experience with a DA polisher and still achieved amazing results the first time. I would look into it, plus meguiars has plenty of videos showing you how to use it correctly.

I rubbed real hard like recommended with Ultimate compound & i can still see the scratches that are faintly there.
What is the next step to completely remove them ?????????????????
