  • is there expiration dates?

I saw couple stuff on sale and want to stock up, wanted to know if the product will go bad? I will be keeping them in a cool dry area.

    Re: is there expiration dates?

Around 3-5 years is average, but some products may last longer and some may go bad sooner. It matters on the temperature and how they are stored. I shake up my liquid products a few times every month just to help keep them form seperating, it doesn't hurt to do it.

The general rule of thumb is 3-5 years. Avoid temperature extremes and you should have no problems.

            thats awesome!

Products should last a while. Though I have to be careful being in Texas when summer rolls around to pull some product inside as my garage gets pretty hot!

This post reminds me that I still have a gallon of the megs detailer line leather cleaner that I havent used >.> lol

              Re: is there expiration dates?

I still have some M02, M03, M07, M26 that is from the 80's. They are all 1/2 gallon jugs with the old-style green label. When I need to refill a squeeze bottle, I bend up a coat hanger, chuck it into a drill and stir thoroughly. Everything still works just fine. The only Meguiar's product I've ever had to discard was M04, in a clear round bottle from the 70's.
The bottle cracked, so the product dried up.

I had to laugh at how long you've had some of your products. From the 70's.

                  Re: is there expiration dates?

I have a friend who owns a detail supply business. He's constantly getting bombarded with samples from companies who want him to represent their product line. When I'm doing a freebie detail for a friend or relative, I have an endless supply of various polishes, glazes, waxes and compounds to sample. The Meguiar's products are reserved for my "better" details, (my own cars), so it takes me a while to use up a big jug.

IMO, storage temerature is important, but more important is temperature changes. My garage stays between 40 and 80 all year long, but products, especially LSPs and Polishes seem to separate after two or so years. If kept inside at a steady 70, they seem to go well past the 5 year mark!

                      Re: is there expiration dates?

I'm a newbie, but man I love this website! I came across some Mirror Glaze #6 and #26 today at an estate sale. I paid $2 for both bottles, but I think they have past their expiration date. The consitency of the #6 just doesn't look right to me, and the #26 has the consistency of spoiled milk. I have two questions:

                      1. Have they expired
                      2. If they have expired, can they still be used, or will I damage the paint?[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Someone might want the bottles.. Really??

How old are the bottles? I got them from an estate sale from an elderly guy who passed away a few weeks ago. Both bottles are in the trash. Are you saying there is a market for the bottles?
