  • Wax Streaks

This is driving me nuts. There are some wax streaks that seem to stay on the car no matter what I do.

I removed most of the defects using UC @ 4 (yellow pad) followed by m205 @3 (black pad). Yet, I havent even applied wax yet! And I have wax streaks. Is there a product that will take care of my streaks?

If you didn't apply wax yet, you can't have wax streaks....

But, try a quick detailer (QD, UQD, LT, 135, FI) and see of that removes the streaks.

You could also just wash the car again before you apply the wax.

    Do you have any pics?

Nope, they are there. They were in the coat for a while. I just thought the UC&M205 would clean the paint enough to remove the defects in the paint and the wax streaks..

Unless the "new" streaking is coming from UC or 205.

I know "Dawning" the car with dishsoap will solve my problem, but I'm worried it'll strip the effects of UC&m205.

Any theories or solutions to this would be appreciated!

Wash the car again. Trust me, the UC eliminated any wax there was on that car.

You might be seeing streks from not removing all of the 205 or maybe even seeing light towel scratchs.

You don't have to use dawn, just use Gold Class or any other type of car wash that you would use.

            Re: Wax Streaks

The streaks were there before you polished the paint with UC and M205, right?

Please describe the process you used in applying UC and M205.

And if possible, please post some pictures. I seriously doubt you are dealing with wax streaking. UC would have removed any and all wax residue.

And don't worry about doing a Dawn wash. A very occasional Dawn wash won't hurt the paint, and there are no UC/M205 effects for it to strip, except the polish lubricating oil that was left behind after you wiped off the polish. Many professional detailers prefer to remove all lubricating oil from the paint before applying wax or sealant.

Hm. Im down to rewash it but keep in mind on the first picture the finder reflection is sky and palm trees and not wax/uc/205 whatever it is.

But look at the running board where the doors meet, the lower part of the door and just above it. (Its hard capping the angles :P) But its worse in person

Running board and parallel to the middle and top of the rim.

              Self explanatory.

But it does look like the swirls and cobwebbing is gone

It looks more like towel marks to me, not wax streaks. You may need to have one more go with 205 or just rewash it and see what is really there.

                  Re: Wax Streaks

Wait. I may have numb-nutted it when you mentioned towel marks. Could a fresh pack of unwashed microfibers be the root of all this evil?

                    Re: Wax Streaks

                    It's possible.

You may have been applying a little too much pressure on those spots or some UC dust may have caused that.

                      Re: Wax Streaks

I bet the dust was my problem. The G110 was spitting out dust left and right because of the 8 years of only wash and wax on it.

But on the brightside I just washed the towels and I still need to 205 other parts of the car so Illl be able to live through this ordeal

                        Re: Wax Streaks

I would try going over it again with some M205.

Make sure to work clean as well.

                          Re: Wax Streaks

It's always best to wash microfiber towels before using them.

I would go with the 205 again. As a general rule of thumb. Whenever I purchase new microfibers, I always wash them first. You never know how long they been sitting around collecting dust.
