  • Spray Wax

So I read a lot about full details, prep, sealers topped with carnauba, etc but there is not so much about maintenance, especially when it comes to spray wax.

I use various quick detailers a lot but rarely, if ever, do I bring out the bottles of spray wax. I guess I figure they aren't the quality of whatever LSP I used and I don't want to mess up the look.

Sometimes I do think about using a spray when drying after a wash, but usually opt not to cause i don't want to have to worry about getting on the windows etc.

Do you guys use a spray much for maintenance? What do you think about them in general? Does using a spray really increase the amount of time before a detail is needed?

You usually dont want to dry with a spray wax, at least not a Meguiars one. You could dry with a detailing spray.

As far as in general, Ultimate Quick Wax is great. Just wash/dry the car, then spray some on you towel and wipe everything. Just keep your towel damp with it ,and wipe everything. I usually come back around with a clean cloth to wipe excess, but really dont need to.

And yes, it does seem to make the main detail last longer.

Much better idea than spraying directly on the car. Thanks - I'll give it shot.

In fact today, I used the UQW after washing both cars. They needed a boost. So I broke out the UQW and the cars look great again. Have not had the time to maintain vehicles lately. It has rained here on and off for about 10 days straight. It is nice to look at clean cars again. lol.

              Re: Spray Wax

Quik Wax is the only Meguiar's spray wax that I know of that can be used when drying your vehicle after a wash (Per Meg's recommendations.)

A good quality spray wax will replenish protection to a coat of wax between routine waxing. Using a spray wax gives me peace of mind, and they're so easy to use. I actually stopped using QD's for my cars after regular washes and instead reach for my spray waxes. My two favorite spray waxes are Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Wax, and Optimum's Spray Wax.

On a side note, it would be nice for a gallon size of UQW to be made available.

While we don't specify it on the bottle, UQW works beautifully when drying the car. Spray it directly onto the panel you are just about to dry, following a final sheeting rinse, of course. Give it a shot, it just might surprise you.

Only thing about this I've found, is that it makes your MF towels repel water pretty good after a few times. I was using waffle weave MF towels, but would go through them quick cause they would stop picking up water.

I've since started using "The Absorber" and it works really well. I think I might do this and then apply UQW after, unless there is a better solution. I liked using UQW with a drying towel, I would just go through them to quick and it would get expensive.

Are you washing your waffle weave microfibers??? Personally, I use just two Water Magnets to dry a car using this method, then they go straight into the wash with the microfiber wash mitt and any other microfibers I've used that day. I've not had a problem with the towels losing their efficiency.

Ya, I am washing them after every use. What kind of detergent do you use to wash them? Do you use the special Microfiber detergent every time?

I've made an order on eshine, to get a couple of these: http://www.eshine.ca/bogo_the_dehydr...450.php?cat=81

The waffle weave ones I'm using now are just some armorall ones I've found at Superstore, maybe they aren't the best quality who knows. I'll give these new ones a shot and see how it goes. The absorber works great, I just lose the ability to spray on a UQW while drying the car.

EDIT: http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/armo...t-drying-towel this is the one I've been using, since I can find it locally.

That is actually a testament to how good UQW is, it's so good it makes your drying towels repel water. Try soaking them in a bucket with a bit of Dawn dish washing soap for thirty to sixty minutes, then wring them out and wash them as usual. I use this method and it seems to really get any wax or polish out of them that traditional washing won't. You can also try Dawn in the washing machine, but I would warn against it if you have an HE washer (don't ask how I know.)

We do have a HE washer, so I won't be trying that lol (I'm guessing there was bubbles everywhere). I will try soaking them in a bucket of dawn dish soap, thanks!
