  • Conversation with a co-worker and his vette...

I was talking to a couple of co-workers about detailing and what not the other day. THey always like how good my car and truck looks after I detail it. Was telling them I wouldnt mind doing it part time on the side once I got a little more "training"

Well one of the guys had a nice red vette thats a couple years old. Decent looking car but could you some work. He is a little condescending at times and a bit of a know it all. Well we started discussing how much for wash, clay wax etc. He said he'd never pay that then continued to say how all he uses is Dawn.

I told him not the best stuff to use since it strips off all your wax and he waxes it like once a year. He said well the car wash shampoos don't tackle the grime and grease as good as Dawn does. I said it is ok to use on a limited basis if you plan on claying, polishing then re-waxing but he insisted that Dawn was all he used becasue it was cheap and a great grease remover.

I saw that I was never going to win the discussion so focused on the other couple guys that said they pay 75 bucks in a heatbeat for me to wash and wax their rides.....

Just thought it was funny is all.......you have a 60k car and wash it with Dawn and hardly wax it....

Hard to imagine from a Corvette owner

He's correct. Dawn does remove grease better and it's cheaper. :eyeroll:

Oh, well. Just let him be I guess, it's his car.

They should move him into upper management immediately, he seems to be very good at seeing the BIG picture. /s
Yes it is true it does remove the grease and the wax he put on a year ago......lol

Funny I was editing my post to sound nicer, but you replied too quick.

I feel sorry for the vette.

Can't save them all indeed. When it comes down to it you have to ask "is it worth my time?"
guys like Mr. Corvette, I wouldn't even give him a minute.

reminds me of my mother's BMW. I'll wash, clean, vacuum, all that. But a soon as I leave the dash gets scratched up and buttons/switches get gummed up with coffee, and after all that it probably gets washed with nuclear waste.

Just forget about it. If it doesn't make money then it doesn't make sense

I almost live by it. But time seems more crucial to me. It never takes a break.

My sister in law got a yukan a few weeks ago. I helped her and my brother de-badge it. She also wanted the side moldings off, I was trying to talk her into keeping the metal straight, then quick cash got involved, the whole thing was cleared off that night. Now I'm itchin to finish it and seal it.

We have been irritating each other. I ask if I can finish it, they say 'not tonight' 'maybe next week' 'leave us alone already' for the past two weeks.

I'm about to just rent my DA to my brother.

You sound like me, when I was much younger. A true entrepreneur.

visaliaipa, I think what you should do is detail the other guys cars. Let buddy be be self-righteous, while your co-workers spend more time looking at their cars than buddies vette. That's will make his blood boil.

Normally, I would say stuff like this, but it sounds like somebody needs to be put in their place. Don't say anything to him, or anyone else for that matter. Let your work speak for itself.

Make them extra fresh. QD your co-worker's cars or go all out with UQD or 135.

Don't worry about it, he'll come to you eventually but it will be a pink vette instead of a red one

I feel for that corvette !!

Just because you have money it doesn't make you smart.

Corvette owners have one thing in common with everyone else; they're just a mere mortal and a Corvette is just a car.............

I own a Corvette, had it since new. If it were stolen, burned, totaled, sucked up in a tornado, or washed away in a flood I do one thing............call my insurance company...

You should do a couple of your co-workers cars. Not the vette. Make sure you guys surround the vette at work. He will get the message. lol.

this is a very true statement.

This also brings up another quote,

All FLASH and NO CASH..........something also known too well by some corvette owners
