Duct Tape Residue on paint

Hey guys, my sister has had a leaking sunroof for years and last fall she had us duct tape it shut. Well today it finally got fixed and i now need to know what i can use to get all the duct tape residue off, i was thinking liberal amounts of APC+ but id like to hear what you guys would recommend.

Maybe some WD-40 then.

Used it to remove some adhesive and tar on a vehicle a few years ago.

Yea, I've used WD-40 on some vinyl graphics residue before. It worked good. If that doesn't work, maybe try some mineral spirits.

Whatever "solvent" you use, make sure that you don't rush it. Let it do its job.

Goof Off or 3M Adhesive remover are likely your best bets. Don't rush - from my experience, you need to let the solvent soak and probably need several applications.

I'd use WD-40 and patience. Usually I find when removing goo... it seems like you're not making progress, then all of a sudden it breaks down and is easy to remove.

I'd also look at picking some up plastic razor blades. They're on sale for $1 at ADS

Goo Gone has never failed me, but since it's outside you could also used WD40. It's going to take some form of friction to actually remove the residue though so you'll want a plastic blade of some sort, if you are against using your fingernail since it could harm the paint.

weather stripping came off the accord, got goo everywhere. goo gone worked really well on it.

Id start with Goo Gone, if that doesn't work fast enough for you then step up to 3m General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. It is stronger but still safe on paint.

Since it has been on there for a really long time, whatever you use let it dwell for a really long time, too. I'm thinking hours, not minutes.

I've seen vehicles with the residue your talking about and I cringe every time. Good luck.
