The mustang was built for my wife and I stole her color choice when the new Avalanche came out. Pictures really dont do the mustangs paint justice. The flake used in the paint gives it yellow tones as well.

thanks guys! The UP was the best product I have ever used on my Vinyl top.

Top took 2 good coats before I buffed it out to a nice even shine. The UP made my top feel conditioned and soft to top everything off so I'm not sure about the product transferring on to the cover. After letting the top dry for an hour I rubbed a small test section and the UP did transfer from the towel onto the paint but that was with rubbing. Time will tell if this transfers to the cover.

    Thanks again

    I agree with Michael.

UP feels completely dry and non-greasy to the touch, so it shouldn't come off onto your car cover.

UP should not transfer onto your cover. UP utilizes some pretty specialized polymers that allow it to bond to a vinyl surface in much the same way wax bonds to your paint. Just make sure you clean the vinyl top thoroughly with something like M39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner before applying UP.

Have you used anything on it already, and if so, what? Just want to make sure you haven't put anything on that might cause an issue for UP.

In the past I used Gold Class, Dash and Trim Foam since it was non greasy and a foam application. I like the results I got but it does not last with the hot sun. On a plus side, foam would not leave residue on my car cover, this is why I chose the product over a specific vinyl dressing.

Will Ultimate Protect ant leave anything on the cover? The problem in the past has been other products transfers to the cover and then on to the paint when the cover slides on.

    Very nice car.
I bought a very soft dust top cover after throwing away my other cover that tore up the paint. Thanks for the advise of the UQD before the cover goes on. I tryed to get the best cover for my situation so I hope this works better then the last one.

This is what the company said about the cover

Dustop is a soft-as-flannel fabric that is an ultrasonically bonded four-layer composite material designed for enhanced dust protection, while pampering the finish of your vehicle. Dustop soft-as-flannel fabric is made with a proprietary technology that combines the softness of polyethylene with the strength and durability of polypropylene to produce a finished product that is strong, cushiony and very soft. Tactile test panels have compared our Dustop fabric with flannels and found that the softness levels are equivalent. Dustop's middle layer provides the barrier to dust that flannel does not possess and it holds out even the finest dust particles. This layer helps Dustop block out four times more dust than the current woven flannels. Dustop is 25% lighter in weight than flannels, so a car cover made from it is easier to handle; yet Dustop has better bulk to provide added protection against nicks and dings. Recommended for indoor use only, with only slight outdoor exposure.

I wont wash the car but I will use UQD and UQW since we are only dealing with minor dust.
To give an example, my daily driven Focus has gone about 1.5 years since it was last polished, and I would say it is 90% swirl free. In anything but the absolute perfect (or worst, depending on how you look at it lol) lighting, it still looks flawless.

With perfect sun or halogen, however, you can find LIGHT swirls. I didn't exactly go out of my way to preserve the paint, either, so if you really do your best to avoid unnecessary contact and use all precautions when you do touch the paint, I think keeping it in show condition for a year is very practical.

It should only take an occasional light polish like M205 to get it back to perfection.

Your cars look fantastic - that's a great color and it really pops when done up properly. Awesome work all around.

It takes what it takes. It all depends on how severe the defects are, what tools/liquids you're using, what your skill level is, and what your expectations are. Your times sound OK but will probably come down as you become more familiar and comfortable with the tool. Also, now that you've got these two cars dialed in they'll be easier to maintain and subsequent sessions should be pretty quick.

In some cases, yes, M86 can replace M105. M86 is really designed to be used on fresh paint, but in many cases we see great results on cured paint. Obviously yours is one of those cases. Another excellent alternative is Ultimate Compound - a consumer product derived from M105 but with much less dusting and a longer buffing cycle on a D/A. But can M86 really replace M205? We sort of doubt it. M205 is a fantastic finishing polish that imparts a very high degree of clarity to the finish. From a purely personal perspective, it's probably my favorite product in our entire lineup.
