  • Help!!

Hey everyone, so I'm new to all this so bear with me, this may be painful for some of you Anyways, so I have a beautifullllll 2004 Acura TL with navigation and alll the bells and whistles

There are some minor blemishes and light scratches on the car. HOWEVER the hood is in pretty bad shape. It has quite a few swirlsss and alot of scratches ect. Some I know I wont get out buttt I want to fix what i can.

SO, I've done a bit of research and it seems like the Ultimate Compound is the best bet. I just want to know if this is the right thing for what I have.

I know pictures will make it easier so I'll post those in a little bit. ANY help is GOOD HELP

    THANKSS!!

    Re: Help!!

You'll have to do a test spot and see how it finishes out. Likely if working by hand UC may very well be what you end up using, especially for the scratches. You may be able to get away with something less aggressive.

I would first do a test spot. A lot of times (from what im told) swirl x will do wonders. If you dont get the desired results, go to scratch x 2.0 and if you still need a stronger compound, go with ultimate compound. All the guys here will tell ya, start out mild and get more aggressive as needed. Like a barber says, "i can take more off but i can't put more on."
Am i obsessed?? A car is the second biggest financial investment for most people, why not keep it looking better than new?

Thanks again, I'll be sure to do that. It'll be a few days tho because I have to wait for them to be shipped to me, because apparently they don't sell either close to me ha

Ha yea thats true. Now I have tried the ScratchX 2.0 and it didn't seem to get everything out. HOWEVER, I wasn't realllly educated on how to use it so I very well may have done it wrong. But I will go back and try it again. But can you use that for more that a localized area? Or is it safe to use on the whole car?

                  Re: Help!!

Ok, well today I went ahead and bought Ultimate Compound, SwirlX, and ColorX. My plan is to use the SwrilX to start, then use the Ultimate Compound if needed and finish up with the ColorX.

Now do I have to tape off everything except the paint?? Sunroof, weather stripping, head lights taillights and what about the emblems??

Moreover, I purchased an Orbital Buffer/Polisher. Can I use that with all 3 products?? Or are there some I can't. Because the ColorX didn't say I could use a buffer with it where as the other 2 (SwirlX and Ultimate Compound) said you could use it.

                  THANKS!!

                    Re: Help!!

I'll warn you, just an orbital buffer may not do anything with the swirlx or uc. I tried mines with swirlx and got fustrated. Unless you get a DA, your better off working it by hand and if you choose that, give yourself about half a day to get the results you want. You wouldnt have to tape off things just using an orbital buffer.
