  • Cleaning and dressing rubber floor mats?

I have the OEM rubber or vinyl floor mats that came with my 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 and they have taken on somewhat of a different color.

I was thinking of cleaning them with APC or APC+ and then applying hyper dressing.

Any comments or suggestions on this approach?

    Regards...

I have the factory rubber mats and a set of WeatherTech rubber mats in my 05 Colorado. I use APC at 10:1 to clean them - not a fan of dressing on mats since it might things a little slick and unsafe.

I have rubber mats......I used the Westleys Bleche-white on them. They came out looking new!

Definately wouldn't use dressing on them though.
      Black......the ONLY color!

APC@10:1 for me. No dressing here either.

I try to use just soap and water.

APC can dry out some rubber mats.

I've been dealing with old floormats for years, since OEM mats for a '87 El Camino were discontinued long ago. Clean first with Simple Green, as it's less likely to fade the colors than stronger cleaners. Spot-treat any bad areas with mineral spirits paint thinner, Greased Lightning or whatever's necessary depending on the spot. Spray a liberal coating of aerosol silicone lube, letting it soak in to revive the color. Multiple passes may be necessary with overnight dry times. Once dry, wipe the raised areas with a rag dampened with Simple Green to remove some of the slippery feeling. They will still be slippery, but much less than with the silicone tire or vinyl dressings, as the silicone lube will soak deep into the rubber, rather than just coating the surface.
