  • Quick Detailer still available? What else can be used with claybar?

Whenever I buy the claybar kit... it always comes with a purple bottle of quick detailer and 2 claybars. It doesn't take me long to use up a bottle of this stuff. Usually I've got an extra claybar left over.

So..rather than buying another claybar kit, I'll buy a another bottle of the quick detailer to use with my extra claybar. But here's the problem....

I can't seem to find any bottles of quick detailer. I've checked all the major stores and nobody has them. So I'm wondering has this stuff been discontined?. Can I safely use a claybar with the other Meguiar's Ultimate detailer that comes in the black bottle?.

I hate to throw a good claybar away but I'm not sure what else is compatible in terms of the spray.

Last Touch mixed 1:1 (half water, half Last Touch).
Last Touch is an extremely affordable Quik Detailer. It's my favorite product from the Detailer Line.

Sorry, I missed answering your question. Yes, you can use Ultimate Quik Detailer, but it is rather expensive for claying.

Sorry to disagree with you Bill. Ultimate Quick Detailer is not recommended for claying. Go with the quik Detailer as you have been using, or as Bill suggested Last touch @ a 1:1 dilution ratio.

Off the shelf I used Mother's Showtime as it came with the kit, another viable alternative. I am set to order some NON local store chems and Last Touch will be on that list.

            Yeah, no UQD for claying.

UQD/#135 has a polymer coating in it that is left behind on the paint, and makes things extra slick also.

So you can imagine you dont want to spray and extra slick coating over gunk you are trying to remove.

Ah ok thats kinda what i figured. Its almost too good to be used for claying and def too expensive.

You can use a little car wash soap mixed with water as a clay lube.

Wow I never thought Quik Detailer would be in short supply! Everywhere down here is kept in stock, I always try to grab the 32oz ones when they're available.

I have used Final Inspection for claying. I think is it more expensive than QD. I have since gone to Last Touch (diluted with distilled water), much more economical.

Soap and water is all I use. It actually depends on the type of clay you have. Some peeps have reported that their clay "crumbled". I have some yellow clay that was manufactured by John Kucala prior to the lawsuit by Clay Magic. I have always used soap and water, and my clay has never even remotely came close to crumbling.

Any detail spray will do or you can mix an ounce of your favorite liquid car wash with 32 oz of water and it works just as good but a lot less expensive.
