We just bought an original 1967 Buick Skylark convertible from a classic car dealer. After driving it home on a hot humid day, I saw that red pigment from the red vinyl interior was all over the back and seat of my clothes. I thought that maybe the dealer had used a powerful cleaner on the seats. I bought a bottle of Mequiar's Professional Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner #4016 and applied it per instructions. I'm still getting red pigment on my clothes. Anyone have a solution?

You see that pretty often when people restore older cars and don't want to spring for a new interior; they just dye the existing seats to make it looks better short term. Only thing to do would most likely be have them re-dyed professionally and properly, or get them reupholstered.Comment

Sorry to say. It sounds like a inferior dye job. About the only fix I know would be a professional dye job. Maybe they have something to remove the inferior product, also.quality creates its own demandComment
