  • Question from a total noob!

I was told this forum could probably help me, so I hope I am in the right place! Well, here's my question:

I own a 2000 white mustang, and I have had a LeBra on it for about a year. Stupid me, never took it off during that period (was worried I'd not get it back on, I had someone else put it on... not a car person)... I just took it off today, and the paint where the bra was is all yellowish and darker then the rest of my car! It looks TERRIBLE. I went to a car wash, and it didn't do ANYTHING to fix it. I tried rubbing it really hard with a wet washcloth, but nothing.

Is it salvageable? I'd like to try at least! What could I do, and what might have happened? From poking around it looked like I might get some clay and a spray (not sure what type). Either this or go to a detail place or a paint place... Keep in mind, never done any type of detailing before haha.

I bought scratch X and it seems to do a good job getting out scuffs, some kids hit my car on their bikes and left rubber marks, wash the area good and follow the directions on the bottle it may help, but see what others suggest first as I am new to detailing aswell

Automatic car washes aren't usually known for helping your paint.

I would want to get the Smooth Surface Clay Kit, SwirlX, and Ultimate Compound, and some smooth foam applicators. Meguiar's makes the round yellow disk kind.

So after washing you would clay the area, and then try working in some SwirlX over a test area. If you need something stronger, then try some UC.

Taking some pics may help, as well before you start if you want to try and show what exactly it looks like, and progress photos if you like.
