    Re: Clay question

It is perfectly fine to clay factory rims. Just use clay that has been used on paint, as when you clay your wheels, you won't want to use that same piece of clay on a perfect paint finish.

Claying may not make a white colored vehicle "pop", but what claying will do, is remove bonded contaminates before you seal the finish. It's better to seal a perfectly clean finish than to seal in bonded contaminates.

Exactly! Just clayed the wifes silver '09 Forester. It "felt" clean to me but I was surprised by the color of the clay when I finished the hood and roof. Claying makes for a smoother more reflective surface. The contaminates aren't there to diffuse the light. White and silver will have more depth after claying.....I used NXT v2 after claying....WOW!

            Re: Clay question

Was asked the other day by a noob... " What's the difference between automotive clay & the modelling clay that you can buy at the craft store" ? Any one have a definitive answer ?

            Thanks.

That looks awesome! I did my wife's today and it looks pretty similiar, not quite as good but i think we have two different shades of whites. Cant find my camera to post pics though.

Actually, it's silver. I'll try to get a full-on sun shot so you can see what NXT does for the metallic in the paint.
